Always wanted to take a pic like this |
On the 16th of June we ate breakfast, hang around at our pool and went to search for some beach. We didn't stay there long because the beach areas belonged to some restaurants so we would have had to buy something from the restaurant to be able to use the beach.. The day before we had bought a camel riding trip, after of course, comparing the prices. It took around 2,5 hours and cost us 60 pounds / head. Before the trip we went to eat in this place where we ate: rice, chicken, bread, salad, soup and vegetables for 15 pounds! (around 2 euros..!)
For the less than three hours trip we took 200 photos!! The view was just amazing! So, apologizes for the many pics but it was really difficult to choose from..

Meeting the camels :D |
We walked to the office to meet the man we bought the trip from. We had made sure that we would be the only ones going. We didn't want to ride the camels in a line with 20 other tourists like we could see in the office photos. It was just us and the man and two young boys walking beside the camels. Even though we already had quickly rode camels it was still exciting to get on them. We started our way towards...
|
nothing..? |
It took a while to get used to riding the camel. Where to put your legs, to sit straight or go along with the movement and stuff were the questions we laughed about. After riding for maybe 30 minutes we basically arrived in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains. There were only couple of these bedouin huts. These two young boys started to cook bedouin tea for us from the scratch. I don't understand how did they do it. It was really good! Then the younger boy tried to sell hand made jewellery to us.

The "path" which we started to climb. Also bedouin hut. |
Then the man asked us whether we wanted to climb to one of the mountains and of course we wanted to, even though it looked really high and we had flipflops on.. It took a while and some effort to climb up! It wasn't easy because there were moving rocks and the wind was really hard!! Couple of times we thought that we already were at the very top when the man asked if we wanted to get higher! One of the boys climbed the mountain walls without his shoes on like a monkey! The rocks were sharp as knives.. And we were really terrified that he might fall from the mountain but the man convinced to us that the boy had been climbing the same mountain since he was seven.. (Now he was around 9..) :D

Almost at the top. Can you spot our camels? |
At the top we had a great and breathtaking view to Dahab, to the mountains and to the sea. We were at the top about an hour just taking photos and admiring the view! At some points it was even scary to stand there because the wind blew so hard that I felt like falling down!

At the top! |
|
On top of the world! I was really afraid to stand there because of the crazy wind! |
|
Juuuuust chilling |
Suddenly at the top of the mountain we heard sounds and I felt like crazy. Where could the noises come from? I was sure that I had heard a voice and a dog barking. Then we saw this man with his dog sitting there admiring the view. He was from London and had moved to Dahab to open his own business working with tourists. Nice and kind man. :) Coming down from the mountain was a bit scary.. Thank god the man and the boys helped us, it was slippery!

My camel |
On the camel ride back the man took a route where we went through this local village and saw the houses and children playing football between the narrow streets. Most of the houses didn't even have windows. Lots and lots of carbage on the streets and donkeys, camels and goats wandering around. After the trip our ass and tigh muscles were really sore! :D
After caming back from the trip we hang by the pool and took it easy. In the evening we walked to the seven heaven hotel to meet the other travellers. This 22-year-old Japanese boy stole the whole evening by being so drunk that every one else had a blast! :D He for example taught everybody all the important body parts in Japanese.. Once in a while he went to throw up and came back again drinking raw whisky. Then some of his friends took him to sleep. Around 12 pm we headed to some bar called Yalla, but it was almost empty so we continued to this Three Mojito bar. On the way we collided into the Japanese boy walking around all alone without his shoes on and drinking beer .. :D Guess how much we laughed!! Me and Saija didn't drink anything that night and at the bar it soon got pretty boring so we headed to our hotel to sleep.

Something funny:
- One man was trying to sell us some spices everytime we passed him.. "Spices girls?" "Spices?" Saija lost her nerves and a bit angrily replied to him: " We don't need spices we are spicy enough!"
- Saija almost fell on this walking street with restaurant after another without even having high heels on. Saija: "I'm really glad no one saw.." We continued to walk and even after many many meters people said to her: "wou, take it easy girl. Carefully and stuff.."
