I woke up in Mykonos around 10 and went outside to the
sun just to relax and be. About 11.20 we left for the harbor (since someone
else needed to be there earlier) and 10-15 minutes later we were there. I was
so disappointed that there were no restaurants or coffee places or anything
there.. Just a tiny little kiosk.. My boat was supposed to leave 12.40 but it
was late and left around 13.40..
At the port in Paros there were some of the
hotel people there with the signs but not too many and no one actually came to
me even though I probably looked like I didn’t have a place to stay. I asked
couple of men but they all had rooms with way over 30€. One really cute and hot
guy offered to help me with some hotel in the port that he knew. He actually
walked me there and then went back to the port. I walked upstairs where this
old lady greeted me and showed me the room but now all of a sudden she said
it’s 35€ not 20€ like promised..
Downstairs was this rent a bike place where
this other nice guy tried to call places and offer help. Didn’t have any luck
and he promised I can sleep on the couch of the shop if I didn’t find anything
else.. Great. I went back to the port and found an info and just when I was
about to ask for a map and help this guy game to offer a place to stay to two
other girls. He instantly offered 20€ room for me close by! Deal! We drove
there with his scooter maybe 800 meters. Jimmy’s had dorm kind of rooms for 12€
and private ones for 20€ and 25€. I chose the 20€ simple room.
It was around 17 o’clock when I dropped my
bag and left to find some taverna to eat my first meal that day.. Taverna
Katerina was right next door and got some food! Then it was little beach time
right in front of the restaurant and shower time later. I left to wander around
in the center of Parikia and watched this Batala people’s drum performance at
the center! Cool! Later on I found this nice little side street alley with a
local restaurant. Perfect! A big bottle of beer was only 3€! Once again in
there I confused people with talking greek and then after a while not talking
it when I didn’t understand something. :D Parikia had nice little alleys with
shops and boutiques.
I went for one beer at this bar where was a
lot of them Batala people dancing and singing. One greek guy from the group
came to talk to me and invited me to their pool party the next day at Santa
Maria. After one drink I just walked home to Jimmy’s to sleep.
The next morning I woke up and decided in
ten minutes that I’m gonna try to make it to the 10 o’clock bus towards Golden
beach. Bus number 1 took around 45 minutes and cost 3€ one way. At the beach
the driver just shouted Golden beach and had to jump out.. Umbrella and sunbeds
cost me 10€ and I loved the long sandy beach! It was hot as fuck again so no
way you could sunbathe at all..
Back to Paroikia I left with 15.00 bus and
I noticed that all the buses were on time all the time! The next bus would have
been only at 17.30 so it was a good decision to choose the earlier one. I
bought the ticket from the bus and it was more expensive to buy it from there
(3,5€). I quickly went to eat someting and then to shower.. I tried to decide
what to wear for ages for the pool party.. :D I speed walked back to the bus
station and hopped into 18.00 bus to Naoussa. I wanted to wander around in
there before the last bus to Santa Maria at 19.50.. I was so sweaty and hungry
so I just ended up eating gyros and having a beer. Close by the bus station
there I found this nice coffee / bar with an Italian owner and he also owned a
roller skating rink next to it. Had a coffee there with him while waiting for
the bus.
On the last bus towards Santa Maria I was
totally alone and started chatting with the bus driver Zacharias. He added me on
Facebook and promised to give me a ride home with his car later on if I needed.
I had asked from the info if there was anyway to get back from there and
Dimitiris told me that I would have to hitch hike.. :D I easile found the Santa
Maria Pool / Camping area with loud music coming from.. At first I felt such an
outsider with my beer sitting alone but then I met the guy who invited me and
he introduced me to some other people in there. The Batala people performed
there several times and it was so cool! When the night went on they handed out
water guns and THAT WAS SO COOL! I was piss wet through and eventually ended up
going to pool also. :D I talked with some Albanian guys and they actually
offered to take me home around 3 am! So happy that I went!
