Batu Caves

On 29th we woke up around 9.30 am and went down for breakfast (toast and tea). First stop of the day was the Batu Caves. We took the KL commuter train there for 30 minutes and it was extremely slow! At the sight there werent much people at all and monkeys everywhere.

272 -steps up to the cave. Up at the caves it was a slight disappointment cause there werent really much to see at all. Basically only the golden man statue down in front of the steps.

The best bit really was when Steve got shit by a pigeon. :D

After the Batu Caves we went to this famous muslim mosque where Steve got to wear a dress..

Coming back we got to see and feel a proper monsoon rain! It only lasted maybe 30 minutes tho. After it stopped we went back to Jalan Alor (Khao San road) to eat and it cost us 6,20 € for both of us.

Then we hopped to the GoKL city bus (a bus line with four FREE routes!!). First we got off at Chinatown which was really lively with food stalls and different market stuff. Then it was time to see the Petronas Twin Towers (which by the way were lit up, just like the previous day..)

Quite impressive those were! First time on the trip I felt like a was on a holiday ! A free traveller exploring the world! Love that!!!!

First visit to Kuala Lumpur

Finally at KL our backpacks game quite fast and we took the fast express to KL sentral and then monorail to Bukit Bintang. It was pissing down and thundering when we got of the monorail. Great start to our holiday! Perfect.

We found our hostel Sunshine Bedz really easily and swapped our room to double room for two nights at a cost of 178 malesian ringgits (MYR). Then it was time for my highlight of the day.. A shower!! After showers we decided not to go straight to bed but to go get something to eat. We wound this lovely street full of all sorts of food and shops etc. The street reminded us of the Khao San road in Bangkok! We ate nice chinese foor for 100 MYR (which we later found out that it was a
lot!!!)

On our way back Steve spotted THE twin towers! I was convinced that they were really close by (it did look like it...). We decided to walk there to catch a climpse. Failed. They werent even lit up properly.

On the way back we saw quite a lot of places and shopping centers like Pavillion.

We both slept over 9 hours in our double bed with aircon.

Stop over at Hong Kong!

Minä ja Sinä. Me and you. Our trip <3

On 27th of April we woke up around 5 am to get ready for our trip. Neither of us slept much at all that night. Our first flight was to Amsterdam at 8.10 am. We had around three hours to spend there before our next flight to Hong Kong!! The second flight was loooong and took around 11 hours. Steve didn't have that much of a leg space being that tall and I had two seats to myself. :D On the plane we were laughing to this weirdo finnish guy sitting next to us at first. The flight wasnt full so they moved him somewhere. Thank god for that! :D

The flight went surprisingly fast even tho we couldnt get any sleep at all. Our stop over was around 7 hours so we had decided to go explore Hong Kong!

On the train

The express train to city center took 24 minutes and at 7 am we were already there. Watching the city wake up. We walked around in financial district and some other areas as well. We were also shocked to see that they were building sky scrapers using bamboo as their racks to climb on !! :O

Morning market

We went to see this Man Mo temple which was said to be one of the most visited sights in HK. The temple was built in 1847 and remains a largest temple in Hong Kong.

We struggled a lot to eat in HK cause no places took cards and we didnt change any money for that 7 hours..

By the last flight we had already been traveling around 20 hours and Steve's jokes got better and better the more tired he got..

Finally we arrived in Kuala Lumpur!

First day of 2017

We woke up after twelve o'clock after sleeping nicely for eleven hours. We got ready and to center to catch a bite in the afternoon. There wasn't really much to do since everything was shut.

We went to eat and after that wandered around and then went for coffee. We took a metro for one stop to walk around the Nyhavn at night. Then decided to head back home and watch a movie.

On the second of January we left for a shopping mall called Field's. Took at metro there and shopped around a while. Also ate THE WORST wok box ever in the shopping mall food court. Literally dry noodles, pieces of chicken and pieces of pineapple.

On the third it was time to catch our 17.00 flight back home! Really nice gettaway with my TWIN <3

New Year 2016

So last night was interesting.

We made our way to the Meatpacking District which is a mecca for young hipsters with good restaurants and bars. The first bar was tiny hippie place and after we tried to find this bar called Jolene but couldn't find it. Most of the places around there were restaurants so we ended up taking an Uber back to the center.

Walked a while until went in to this Torst bar with small bottles of wine for 45DKK. Problem solved for the night. That's were the craziness started. After at least 6 small bottles of wine we went to dance and ditched these guys that had talked with us, left them with our jackets. :D Dancing, more drinking, one fight (three guys) that started because these two guys fought over Trina. After we ran out with our jackets, went to this other place for one drink with these english guys but basically left straight home..

Went for couple of drinks and got home with Uber maybe aroun 3 am. What happened? :D

All last night and today Trina has been suffering a lot from a massive hangover.. I felt surprisingly okey.. I left at 16.00 to find a supermarket to buy some snacks and soda. Well that trip took me 2,5 hours. First waited for the bus for 30 minutes (the buses are always on time here except this time!) and hopped to this other one I knew would also go towards the center.. All the supermarkets on the way were closed, so I thought that in the center there must be something open.. The bus ride ended up taking 50 minutes!! Got of at the end stop and was totally lost. After a while found myself to the familiar streets and noticed that the whole center was closed from cars and buses. And so were the supermarkets, great. Found this one take away chinese from were I bought some food to go.

Waited the bus 2A for maybe 10 minutes untill I noticed it doesnt even run from there at the moment.. I walked to the next stop and run for the bus. It was packed!!

Notices:
- loads of bikers with no helmets
- not many curtains on the windows at all. You can see straight in.
- people dressed really nicely for New Year.
-on 31th everything closed at 15.00..

Trina got up from bed at 18.00 and somehow we managed to head towards the center. Went to the same coffee / restaurant where we had been the day before also. Center was quite queit cause we had thought it's packed! Also the restaurants weren't packed and into anyone you could have gotten a table. We ate nice meal at Stella's and drank the lovely raspberry mojitos. Then quarter to twelve we started heading towards the square but didn't wanna go right in the middle but instead started heading already towards the bus stop if it would be packed!

The fireworks was okey, nothing special. In Helsinki center the square were middle go to there aren't really people firing the fireworks but it's like a show from the city. Here in the center square we couldnt really tell which were fireworks by watcher and which weren't. Thought it would be over in couple of minutes but it kept going on going. We hopped into the bus which was empty! All the way to our stop we could see loads of firework everywhere. People were gathered to every crossroads and fired them from in the middle of the roads.

Got of from the bus and our narrow streets were full of people in the doorways and in the open windows. Got in and could see looooads from our window and they only started to die down at 01.00!?! That was so weird!

Nyhavn and little mermaid

This morning we ordered the citypasses through internet straight to our phones for 72 hours for 200dkk. So easy and simple! We left for the center around noon with the bus 2A, it took us around 15 minutes. This time we got of at Forum St. and hopped into metroline 2 for Kongens Nytorv. It was around 200 meter walk to the famous colorful houses.

Wandered around for a while until we found a place with a hot salmon soup! Tiny cosy place by the water. The menu said salmon soup with shelfish which ended up being shrimps. The waitor warned us that it is a creamy soup. (Like we as Finns wouldn't know). It wasn't creamy soup it was cheesy and had three tiny peaces of salmon and maybe 5 shrimps.

After eating and couple of pictures we started walking towards the little mermaid statue that I wanted to see. It was freezing with the wind! Walking back we also saw the Amalienborg's castle and statue and also the Frederick's church.

Hot glögg!
Opera house

The little mermaid

Amalienborg's castle

Frederick's church

Then to Espresso House for warm drinks!

After we had melt we headed to the shopping street to shop. I felt like shopping?! I never do, hate shopping. Ended up spending over 100€ which is a lot for me!

Found this really nice and quite cheap restaurant / coffee / bar called Stella on a street called Kompagnistraede. Cocktails were 2 for the price of one (95DKK). I can highly recommend the rasberry mojito! So good! Also the food portions were quite big! :)

Then we headed home to shower and change, then heading to Kodbyen area where there are supposed to be some bars.

...to be continued...
