Stop over at Hong Kong!

Minä ja Sinä. Me and you. Our trip <3

On 27th of April we woke up around 5 am to get ready for our trip. Neither of us slept much at all that night. Our first flight was to Amsterdam at 8.10 am. We had around three hours to spend there before our next flight to Hong Kong!! The second flight was loooong and took around 11 hours. Steve didn't have that much of a leg space being that tall and I had two seats to myself. :D On the plane we were laughing to this weirdo finnish guy sitting next to us at first. The flight wasnt full so they moved him somewhere. Thank god for that! :D

The flight went surprisingly fast even tho we couldnt get any sleep at all. Our stop over was around 7 hours so we had decided to go explore Hong Kong!

On the train

The express train to city center took 24 minutes and at 7 am we were already there. Watching the city wake up. We walked around in financial district and some other areas as well. We were also shocked to see that they were building sky scrapers using bamboo as their racks to climb on !! :O

Morning market

We went to see this Man Mo temple which was said to be one of the most visited sights in HK. The temple was built in 1847 and remains a largest temple in Hong Kong.

We struggled a lot to eat in HK cause no places took cards and we didnt change any money for that 7 hours..

By the last flight we had already been traveling around 20 hours and Steve's jokes got better and better the more tired he got..

Finally we arrived in Kuala Lumpur!

First day of 2017

We woke up after twelve o'clock after sleeping nicely for eleven hours. We got ready and to center to catch a bite in the afternoon. There wasn't really much to do since everything was shut.

We went to eat and after that wandered around and then went for coffee. We took a metro for one stop to walk around the Nyhavn at night. Then decided to head back home and watch a movie.

On the second of January we left for a shopping mall called Field's. Took at metro there and shopped around a while. Also ate THE WORST wok box ever in the shopping mall food court. Literally dry noodles, pieces of chicken and pieces of pineapple.

On the third it was time to catch our 17.00 flight back home! Really nice gettaway with my TWIN <3

New Year 2016

So last night was interesting.

We made our way to the Meatpacking District which is a mecca for young hipsters with good restaurants and bars. The first bar was tiny hippie place and after we tried to find this bar called Jolene but couldn't find it. Most of the places around there were restaurants so we ended up taking an Uber back to the center.

Walked a while until went in to this Torst bar with small bottles of wine for 45DKK. Problem solved for the night. That's were the craziness started. After at least 6 small bottles of wine we went to dance and ditched these guys that had talked with us, left them with our jackets. :D Dancing, more drinking, one fight (three guys) that started because these two guys fought over Trina. After we ran out with our jackets, went to this other place for one drink with these english guys but basically left straight home..

Went for couple of drinks and got home with Uber maybe aroun 3 am. What happened? :D

All last night and today Trina has been suffering a lot from a massive hangover.. I felt surprisingly okey.. I left at 16.00 to find a supermarket to buy some snacks and soda. Well that trip took me 2,5 hours. First waited for the bus for 30 minutes (the buses are always on time here except this time!) and hopped to this other one I knew would also go towards the center.. All the supermarkets on the way were closed, so I thought that in the center there must be something open.. The bus ride ended up taking 50 minutes!! Got of at the end stop and was totally lost. After a while found myself to the familiar streets and noticed that the whole center was closed from cars and buses. And so were the supermarkets, great. Found this one take away chinese from were I bought some food to go.

Waited the bus 2A for maybe 10 minutes untill I noticed it doesnt even run from there at the moment.. I walked to the next stop and run for the bus. It was packed!!

Notices:
- loads of bikers with no helmets
- not many curtains on the windows at all. You can see straight in.
- people dressed really nicely for New Year.
-on 31th everything closed at 15.00..

Trina got up from bed at 18.00 and somehow we managed to head towards the center. Went to the same coffee / restaurant where we had been the day before also. Center was quite queit cause we had thought it's packed! Also the restaurants weren't packed and into anyone you could have gotten a table. We ate nice meal at Stella's and drank the lovely raspberry mojitos. Then quarter to twelve we started heading towards the square but didn't wanna go right in the middle but instead started heading already towards the bus stop if it would be packed!

The fireworks was okey, nothing special. In Helsinki center the square were middle go to there aren't really people firing the fireworks but it's like a show from the city. Here in the center square we couldnt really tell which were fireworks by watcher and which weren't. Thought it would be over in couple of minutes but it kept going on going. We hopped into the bus which was empty! All the way to our stop we could see loads of firework everywhere. People were gathered to every crossroads and fired them from in the middle of the roads.

Got of from the bus and our narrow streets were full of people in the doorways and in the open windows. Got in and could see looooads from our window and they only started to die down at 01.00!?! That was so weird!

Nyhavn and little mermaid

This morning we ordered the citypasses through internet straight to our phones for 72 hours for 200dkk. So easy and simple! We left for the center around noon with the bus 2A, it took us around 15 minutes. This time we got of at Forum St. and hopped into metroline 2 for Kongens Nytorv. It was around 200 meter walk to the famous colorful houses.

Wandered around for a while until we found a place with a hot salmon soup! Tiny cosy place by the water. The menu said salmon soup with shelfish which ended up being shrimps. The waitor warned us that it is a creamy soup. (Like we as Finns wouldn't know). It wasn't creamy soup it was cheesy and had three tiny peaces of salmon and maybe 5 shrimps.

After eating and couple of pictures we started walking towards the little mermaid statue that I wanted to see. It was freezing with the wind! Walking back we also saw the Amalienborg's castle and statue and also the Frederick's church.

Hot glögg!
Opera house

The little mermaid

Amalienborg's castle

Frederick's church

Then to Espresso House for warm drinks!

After we had melt we headed to the shopping street to shop. I felt like shopping?! I never do, hate shopping. Ended up spending over 100€ which is a lot for me!

Found this really nice and quite cheap restaurant / coffee / bar called Stella on a street called Kompagnistraede. Cocktails were 2 for the price of one (95DKK). I can highly recommend the rasberry mojito! So good! Also the food portions were quite big! :)

Then we headed home to shower and change, then heading to Kodbyen area where there are supposed to be some bars.

...to be continued...

Copenhagen New Year 2016

Me and my sister left for Copenhagen for New Year since neither of us wanted to spend it in Helsinki!

We thought of going for longer and further away like to Philippines or New York but with my ringette season on we couldnt, yet again..

It took us months to decide where to go and we ended up in Copenhagen. :D

We book the flights quite late, tho we only ended up paying around 150€ / return. Accomadation we decided to take via AirBnB since it was over 40€ cheaper / night than a hotel would have been. Found this kind nice apartment rather close to center and we paid 40€/ a night / person.

On 29th we woke up after 3 am and and were at the airport before 5 am. The flight to Copenhagen took around 1 hour and 40 minutes which we managed to sleep somehow..

At the aiport we met our landlady Marta who came to give us keys to her apartment. We bought a metro ticket and hoped on to Metroline 2. Got off on second to last stop at Flintholm, hoped to bus number 13 for six stops and managed to get off at the right stop with Trina's maps when she put the mobile data on couple of times. The walk from the bus stop to our place was maybe 300 meters. After trying to figure out which door was ours since the doors didn't have any names on them we tried one and figured that it wasnt ours.

Nice little apartment, just perfect for us! :)

We took a bus 2A to citycenter and just started wandering around the narrow streets. We went to eat at Friends&Brgers tho I passed since my stomach felt shitty.. Shopping and wine was included in our day. We went to Irma for grocery shopping and then started heading back to our place. I was absolutely knackered for the day. We watched the movie Nerve and after at 8 o'clock I started sleeping and woke up 12,5 hours later. :D

Notices:
- Most people speak really good English!
-Loads and loads of bikes! Really wide bike streets next to the car lines
-Supermarkets Netto and Irma

Asia for 10 weeks!

The idea about a trip to Asia came from the place we had met.. We wanted to go back to Asia, not to Thailand yet tho. We have this massive map on our wall (actually two maps..) and on this dark and cold November night we decided that we wanna go! The length of the trip was first three months, then it dropped to two months because of our work and the rent we obviously would have to pay from the empty apartment.. When booking the tickets to Kuala Lumpur we become a bit creedy and added and an extra two weeks.. So all in all ten weeks!

We opened up our travel account to which we saved around 300 € / head / each month. We searched about airBnb but decided not to do that.. We carefully asked our landlady about if one of my friends could come and live here while we were in Asia.. She basically said yes.. I started posting on different webpages and told my friends about that our place would be free to rent for almost three months. Couple of young girls were interested in moving to Helsinki for the summer. They couldnt promise anything so we decided to forget them and move on. So many weird people contacted me! For example a Russian family of five people..! This weird woman that I searched from Facebook that had some hooks on her skin and was hanging from the ceiling! :D All the emails were so annoyingly written like no phone numbers, no "best regards" or anything..

I think in around January I got an email from this couple and it stood out a lot! It was so nicely written saying that almost on the exact dates they were gonna have pipe repair thing on their apartment block and they had to move out.. They were so nice and friendly so I knew that was it! They were willing to pay the whole rent! OUR SAVING !! They came to see the place and Steve was at work so mom came here with me. We agreed the renting on a piece of paper which I printed from the internet. SO nice and honest couple, could NOT have asked anything better. I knew instantly that our place would be "safe" and kept well. We only removed some papers from the house and left everything else here. When we got our place rented we saved over 2000€! That woulda been a massive lump to save extra just to get the rent paid!!

The shit thing is that I had written all the money stuff up on my phone... and.. it exploded in Singapore!

We spent around 2500€ together without flights to KL and back! So not that bad at all I don't think! So basically everything included for the 10 week trip from the two of us costs us less than 3500€!

The dates that we went were from 27.4 to 3.7! The spring went really fast when we had to work and I had to finish off the ringette season so that I could actually go on a holiday that long. From the gym I just arranged all my clients that they knew I was going and did programs for them in advance to which they would change at certain point.

We didn't plan that much! I'm usually really good at planning trips and organizing stuff but I struggled! I felt like it was too long of the trip to plan. We read here and there and had a rough plan which changed on the way many times just because lack of time and that we hadn't considered distances that much. What looked like a short trip on the map could easily have taken hours and hours because of the poor condition of the roads!

We had to get a visa to Indonesia which we wanted to take in advance. We went to the embassy and they denied it because we didn't have an arriving date to the country. That was so annoying cause we hadn't wanted to put any time for ourselves when we were gonna swap from Malaysia to Indonesia and which point we would go to Singapore.. Originally we had also planned to go to Philippines but that we decided to forget in quite early state because of money and all the hassle. We went to to actually see the countries properly not just a glimpse of places.

Here starts the story writing almost two years later.. Thank god we wrote a journal! :P

My fairy tale

This one was written on 27th of October, three months after me and Steve decided to continue our lives to different directions..

Καρδιά μου πληγωμένι..

Sad? Mad at life? Hurt? Lost? Empty? Tired? Broken?

Are words to describe how lost I feel. Most of the people have broken up and everyone handles it differently. Im just a big broken mess. Lost and alone. My heart and my chest literally hurts. I wanna throw up. I have lost my best friend to whom i could tell and share everything with. Who was there for me for everything. The kindest, sweetest and loving man i will ever meet. Now it's just me and my thoughts.

It's been 13 weeks and the first ten of them i cried every day until i had to go to doctor's because my heart hurt. Literally. Nothing was found. The nurse told me as a female to another that i have a broken heart. I havent stopped my life tho, im fine during the days when im busy with two jobs, school and my sport. When alone at a car, bus or at home im a crying mess.

What doesnt kill you makes you stonger they say. I believe in that. I also believe that everything happens for a reason. I just cant see that now, will i ever?  To give up someone you love madly just for the other person to be happy or find what they want in life is one of the most difficult things i have ever done. Or will ever do. To let go someone you love and the only person you have ever been able to see the future with. To know that the other person loves you to the moon and back, respects you of who you are and what you do and then you need to let go. It's hard. No words to describe it. Nothing. Just tears.

He showed and taught me what love is and what it can be. He will become the most perfect and loving husband and a father one day when he finds his passion and desire in life what he wants to do, and the place where he feels like home.

It started from Thailand as a summer romance, as a fairy tale. It ended up over three years later by best friends giving up from each other cause the time and the place didnt match in this life. This was my fairy tale.

Always thankful from everything <3
